When a small group of people so passionate about coffee come together, its hard not to imagine something spectacular emerging.

Opened in August 2012, Comet Coffee is the hard work and collaboration of owner Mark Attwood and partner and pastry chef Stephanie Fischer with the amazing assistance and contributions of friends and family.

The cafe was borne of independence and a strong desire to create a space that so represented what Mark has always believed a coffee shop should be – a place where coffee is cherished and fun, tweaked to its best cup, and highlighted by service and presentation.

 

We describe ourselves as geeks and nerds and silly people who just really love coffee and want to make it well. We get excited about a great single origin espresso or a really wonderful latte art pour; we hope to share that excitement with you.

And with the shop's St. Louis roots and its place within the Highlands, it seemed only appropriate to receive its namesake from the grand Comet rollercoaster.

Every cup, every drink, and every pastry is made with care and pride. Our goal is to bring you the very best we can.

We believe that coming to a cafe should be more than a caffeine fuel stop; it’s an experience of camaraderie, collaboration, and education. We love to express our knowledge and passion for what we do, so come in for a visit and join us for an experience you won’t forget.

With every cup of coffee and every shot of espresso, we take the utmost care and pride in what we do. Our passion is delicious, exceptional drinks and we hope our love for our craft carries through to every last cup we serve.

As a multi-roaster café, we are extremely excited to share with you different coffees from around the country -- and even the world. We are honored to try samples of different varietals from different farms and roasters to build an amazingly diverse and interesting menu of seasonal coffees. As such, we regularly change our menu as new coffees come in and out of season. And while we can't possibly try every coffee from every farm from every roaster, we continue to try our best to tap into the wonderful and ever-changing world of specialty coffee.

Every morning the smell of freshly baked croissants, muffins, and other treats wafts through our shop. We treasure quality ingredients and strive to use them to bring a level of excellence to all of our pastries and that we make from scratch, in-house.

With Stephanie Fischer, one of Comet Coffee's co-owners, a certified pastry chef, we bring together two of our loves -- superb pastries and coffee. Every single one of our pastries is made from scratch in our busy little kitchen and baked in small batches to maintain freshness and ensure little goes to waste at the end of the day. We are incredibly appreciative to work with such ingredients such as milk from Ozark Mountain Creamery of Mountain Grove, Missouri, bacon, chorizo sausage, and lonza from Salume Beddu of St. Louis, Missouri, and eggs from Diane Mueller.

Simple as that. We experience an incredible sense of excitement with each and every opportunity that we have to share what we love with our customers. Whether we can introduce you to your first beautifully-roasted single origin coffee hand-brewed to order or pull the millionth shot of espresso of your lifetime, we believe ourselves blessed to be able to bring our passion for great coffee and pastries to the table.

Trying new and amazing things is always wonderful, but we find that giving others the chance to experience and indulge is even better. As much as we love croissants and coffee for ourselves, we love sharing them even more and we are honored to have a place and time to do so. From latte art pours to theorizing about extraction and flavor profiles, to seasonal pies and chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven, we hope our excitement is contagious and never overwhelming because as we said -- we love what we do.
